    For many people, living by the water is as much about the lifestyle as it is about the home. Those homebuyers looking to own waterfront property in the Nashville are limited by the number of lakes in the area.
    In fact, only Old Hickory Lake offers access to a dock. However, for those looking to buy a waterfront home, there are some amazing properties surrounding Old Hickory. Old Hickory spans three counties near Nashville, which are Sumner, Wilson, and Davidson. 
    1. Sumner County – Hendersonville and Gallatin both have waterfront real estate available. This area is also growing rapidly with the addition of many restaurants, shopping centers and new developments. In fact, Hendersonville in particular has become very popular for Nashville commuters looking to live outside the city, as Hendersonville sits about twenty minutes away. 
    2. Wilson County – In Wilson County waterfront homes are found in either Lebanon or Mt. Juliet. While Lebanon remains the quieter of the two, Mt. Juliet is becoming well known as another desirable place to live near Nashville. 
    3. Davidson County – In Nashville, there are only a few homes found in Old Hickory and Inglewood that have lakefront views of Old Hickory.
    Homes near the Cumberland River
    Those who enjoy being near water – but are less concerned with being close to a lake and having dock access – should consider the Cumberland River. Flowing from Northeast Nashville, Cheatham and Montgomery Counties both have many real estate lots and homes near the river. Since the Cumberland also goes directly through downtown Nashville, many of the new high-rises and condo units offer spectacular views of the river.
