We couldn’t help but notice lately that these two long-standing Southern patterns seem to be making their way back into interior design these days. So, of course now we’re trying to decide – checks or plaid?
Checks
This pattern has been around forever and has the association of a country feel. However, a quick browse through more recent examples (such as these) demonstrates how wonderfully modern and fresh this classic print can be.
Plaid
Yet another print that gets typecast in only a certain light: plaids are no longer just for little boys’ rooms or rustic cabin styles. Even in its modern forms, this print evokes a sense of charm and warmth and has moved past the traditional red or navy color palette (see examples here). Plus, lately we’ve spotted it everywhere, from Southern Living to Elle Décor.
