Eeeek -Halloween is only two weeks away! Is your house Halloween ready yet? We don’t just mean decorated either. Is your home ready to withstand the long line of trick or treaters that may come knocking? If you aren’t quite sure, here are our tips for prepping your home for Halloween this year!

Make it welcoming

Whether you go big or small, be sure that you have some sort of decoration or indication that you are participating in handing out candy. Flip the lights on for the porch as well as the front rooms of the house so that both kids and adults can tell you are ready for visitors.

Check your walkway

Be sure your pathway is clear and railings are appropriately secured. It’s easy for younger kids especially to trip in their costumes so keep these areas clear of any extra obstacles. Try not to use candles since they can get tipped over. Rather, try LED candles or other battery-powered options.

Put away pets

Even the most well-behaved dogs get spooked at Halloween. Play it safe and protect both your dog and your visitors by keeping him indoors during trick-or-treating times. And don’t forget your cats too – best to keep them safely tucked away inside until the morning!

Don’t leave candy

It can be tempting to leave candy outside while you take your own kids around the neighborhoods. Of course, not only is your candy likely to be gone within the first few visitors, it’s also not a good idea to leave it unattended. Though the chance of anyone tainting it is small, why take the risk?

With these few considerations, everyone can have a SPOOKTACULAR Halloween!
