Indoor Winter Activities For Kids

Winter weather often means kids are left stuck indoors, longing to have fun, when they can’t go outside and play. As the days grow colder and rain and snow push their way in, we thought we’d put together a few ways to turn winter days into indoor fun for everyone!

    Cookie Art

This activity is two-fold, as first you get the bonus of baking cookies to make your home smell heavenly, and second you provide your children with the opportunity to stay busy and make great memories! The littlest ones can stir the dough and assist the older ones with post-baking decoration. You never know when you might start a new tradition.

    Mazes and Forts

There is nothing more fun than making a mess when you’re a kid, and forts are the best way (and one of the easiest to clean up!) to make a messy maze of adventure. Transform your living room or den into a fort by using pillows to build walls, covering chairs with blankets for roofs, and if you have a toddler, consider using a collapsible tube tunnel for crawling.

Whether you’ve just built a fort, or are gathered around a sofa or fire, storytime is always a great way to grow imaginations and keep kids entertained. Have them read to you, read to them, or perhaps make up your own story and write it down after or as you go!

If you’re stuck on what more to do for your kiddos as they wait out the cold, there are a variety of great ideas over on The Artful Parent and Pinterest for arts, crafts, and more!
